Wednesday 3rd August

Me writing my blog entry on the beach - that's dedication for you!
We woke up to find a lovely sunny day outside.  Dad and I went to the supermarket to buy the usual things like milk and cereal for breakfast and we ended up with a full trolley!  We bought a citronella candle to put on the balcony to keep the mosquitoes and various other insects away at Mum's request!
After that we went to lay on the loungers by the hotel pool.  It was lovely to feel the warm sun for the first time in god knows how long!  Dad and I then went on another mission to get some iced coffees.  We had a great walk around Palm Cove and found loads of cool restaurants including a Greek taverna and an Indian restaurant and some lovely trinket shops.   I found yet another bikini that I fancied buying but haven't done so yet!
Me posing by the pool!
After a while the large palm trees by the pool blocked out the sun and so we all jumped in the pool (you had to jump in because it was cold).  We all had a quick swim before departing for the beach.
I hadn't had a chance to buy a spade yet which limited my sand building to burying Dad's feet (see photo)!  We lazed around for a couple of hours which was really nice.  We had booked a tennis court for 4.30 pm so we walked back to the hotel, all feeling windswept and sandy and got changed ready to play tennis.  One thing that we have noticed about Australian tennis courts is that the net is a few inches off the ground.  Dad calls them 'mini-skirt nets'.  It does make it easier to pick up the balls though because they roll underneath it!
